Discussion Topic: The role of
Palestinians in deciding their fate
Israel, in its fourth day of a massive military assault of Gaza
in which at least 70 Palestinians have been killed, has avoided
criticism in the United Nations. An Arab-sponsored draft UN
resolution condemning the Gaza offensive was vetoed on Tuesday by
the US. The text was supported by 11 nations, but Britain, Germany
and Romania abstained, and it was killed by the US. What position
does this put the Palestinian people in? Resistance to the
occupation is condemned internationally while formal channels of
dialogue like the UN are blocked as well. What do you think the role
is for the Palestinian people in deciding their fate? |

What should the

Discussion Topic: Unilateral Peace Agreements!
In an
unprecedented move in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the current
US administration has unilaterally, with the Israeli government, dictated
the outcome of the long and complex years of conflict and negotiations
between the Palestinians and Israelis. Thus, legalizing
Israeli settlements, eliminating the Palestinian Right of Return and
justifying the building of the separation and expansion wall by the Sharon
government on Palestinian lands. Once more the USA Administration
ignored the international law and the many UN resolutions relating to the
conflict as well as its European, UN and Russian partners in the Road Map
quest. How do you think such a move will influence the peace process in the
Middle East on the one hand and the world peace on the other? |

Discussion Topic: Sheikh Ahmad Yassin assassination &
withdrawal plan
Personally
orchestrated and followed up by the Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon,
Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the spiritual leader of Hamas, has been assassinated
this morning the 22nd of March 2004 in Gaza.
Israeli gun ships killed eight more Palestinian bystanders and accompaniers
of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin in the air strike.
This illegal act of targeted killing comes at
a time when the Israeli government has been going through intensive debate
over Sharon’s withdrawal plan from the Gaza Strip.
In your
opinion why did Sharon and the Israeli Government decide to escalate the
violence at this point of time? |

Discussion Topic:
The Wall
Today,
the 23rd of February 2004,
the International Court of Justice at
The
Hague starts hearings on the legality of the Wall that is being built in the
West Bank. To the Palestinians, the construction of the Wall inside the
occupied territories is another illegal act of occupation, which not only
grabs more Palestinian lands but also denies Palestinians basic human
rights. To the Israelis the Wall is called a security fence, which is being
built to protect the citizens of Israel.

Media Covers Israeli Deaths and Covers-up Palestinian Deaths
In the past twenty four hours events have been escalating in the
Palestinian-Israeli Conflict. Yesterday ten Palestinians were killed by the
Israeli military forces. Their
killing was barely covered by the international media. This morning ten
Israelis were killed by a suicide bomber. Most international media is
covering the event as breaking news. Aren’t
All Humans?
